Kieran Lumb signs pro deal with On Running...

PORTLAND--
In a release posted Friday on its web site, On Running announced that recent University of Washington grad student Kieran Lumb (photo courtesy On Running) is the latest athlete to sign with the company.

The Vancouver, BC native came to the University of Washington in the fall of 2021 after graduating from the University of British Columbia where he graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Electrical Engineering.

During his time with the Huskies, he won the NCAA West Regional cross country meet in 2021, and set the school record in the 10000 in finishing second at the Pac-12 championships in Eugene.

At the UW Preview on January 14th, Lumb, who attended the UW to pursue a masters degree in Information Systems, set the school record in the 3000, running 7:43.27, and was one of the eight Huskies that made national headlines on January 27th when all eight crossed the line under four minutes.

He improved his mile time to 3:52.62 at the Boston University Last Chance meet on February 26th, as the eight Washington men repeated the feat in Boston.

Lumb ended his Husky career by anchoring the Dawgs to a fourth place finish (Paul Merca photo) in the distance medley relay at the NCAA indoor championships last month in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and finished eighth in the 3000 to earn All-America honors, and help the Huskies to a fourth place team finish.

When asked about joining On, Lumb said, “What impressed me most about On was their excitement and commitment to investing themselves in the sport and their athletes. I have great confidence in their product development teams and the company’s vision for the future of our sport.“

Lumb made his On Running debut last week at the Bryan Clay Invitational, where he finished third in the top section of the 5000 meters, running 13:27.60, finishing behind his former teammate Bryan Fay (13:21.99), and UW volunteer coach Sam Prakel (13:22.78).

Kieran will race Saturday in Eugene in the men's pro mile as part of the Oregon Relays high school invitational.
