Husky women's squad moves into USTFCCCA D1 top 25 after Stanford Invitational...

NEW ORLEANS--
In the latest USTFCCCA Division I rating index released Monday, the University of Washington women's team are ranked at number 25, while the men's squad finds itself outside the top 25.

The Huskies, who were at number 30 last week, were boosted onto the top 25 by steeplechaser Kayley DeLay's (#12/Paul Merca photo) collegiate leading mark of 9:48.44, set in winning her event at the Stanford Invitational over the weekend.

DeLay, the grad transfer from Yale, ran unattached during the indoor season. DeLay, who was the runner-up in the NCAA steeplechase last year for the Bulldogs, competed in her first meet as a Husky at Stanford, as she only had outdoor track eligibility remaining.

The other national top 20 mark for the Huskies over the weekend came from Andrea Markezich in the 10000 meters, where she ran 32:50.16.

The nation's top five teams are in order: Florida, USC, Texas, Kentucky, and Texas A&M.

There are no other Pac-12 women's teams in the top 25 this week.

On the men's side, the Huskies, who were number 30 last week, move up two spots to number 28, but still find themselves outside the top 25.

Top 20 marks from last week include: Cass Elliott (50.05) and Jonathan Birchman (51.03) in the 400 hurdles at number 5 & 15; Sam Ellis (3:40.81) in the 1500 at number 9; Ed Trippas (8:40.43) in the steeplechase at number 7; and Jacob Englar (17-6.5/5.35m) in the pole vault at number 16.

The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas, BYU. Florida, Texas Tech, and LSU.

Pac-12 teams inside the top 25 include number 10 Stanford, number 16 USC, number 21 UCLA, and number 24 Arizona State.

Washington returns to San Diego this weekend for the Triton Invitational, hosted by UC San Diego.
