Washington women remain in USTFCCCA top 25; Husky men just on the outside...
NEW ORLEANS--With only the throws group in action over the weekend, the Washington women's team moved up one spot in the USTFCCCA Division I Track & Field Rating Index released Monday.
The Huskies, who were ranked number 25 in the rating index, moved up to number 24, with a large contribution from MaKayla Kelby (UW Athletics photo), who threw the shot 55-7.5 (16.95m) and the discus 174-2 (53.09m) at the Triton Invitational in San Diego.
Kelby's throw in the shot is currently the number 16 performer in NCAA Division I this season, while she is ranked number 39 in the discus.
The nation's top five women's teams are in order: USC, LSU, Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M.
Pac-12 teams inside the top 25 include number 9 Oregon, and number 20 Arizona.
The Husky men still remain just on the outside at number 28, despite Elijah Mason's throw in the discus of 201-7 (61.44m) in San Diego Saturday.
The nation's top five men's teams are in order: Texas, BYU, Florida, Texas Tech, and LSU.
Pac-12 teams in the top 25 include number 14 Stanford, number 15 USC, number 21 Cal, and number 25 Arizona.
Only marks from the current outdoor season are used, so this is truly an objective view of the ongoing 2023 campaign.
The Huskies travel to the Los Angeles area this week with event groups splitting between meets at Long Beach State, Azusa Pacific, and Mt. San Antonio College.
