Washington breaks into USTFCCCA D1 national top 25 after Stanford/Texas Relays...
NEW ORLEANS--After both Washington squads opened the outdoor season the week before at the Peyton-Shotwell Invitational with a skeleton team because of spring break, the teams broke into the second USTFCCCA Division I Track & Field Rating Index released Tuesday after competing as a full team over the weekend.
The Husky men crack the top 25, coming in at number 21, while the women are at number 25.
Beyond pole vaulter Jimmy Rhoads' (UW Athletics photo) outdoor school record of 18-10.5 (5.75m) set at the Texas Relays, the biggest mark of the weekend came in the 400 meters, where Alex Rhodes uncorked a 45.22 mark in the 400 meters at the Stanford Invitational.
Rhodes' time is the third best in school history, supplanting Maurice McNeal's 45.60 from 2011 off the top three.
Rhoads' vault is the number 2 mark in Division I, while Rhodes' time in the 400 is the fourth fastest time so far this season.
The Division I men's top five teams after last weekend's competition are in order: LSU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Minnesota.
Other Big Ten teams in the national top 25 include number 8 Oregon, number 11 Michigan, number 13 USC, and number 19 Iowa.
The Washington women's team came out as the number 25 team in the D1 rating index after their performance at the Stanford Invitational.

DIVISION II...
Western Washington's men's team remains at number 10 in this week's Division II national rating index.
The Vikings had two top ten performances over the weekend, with Maurice Woodring having a hand in both marks.
Woodring ran 50.69 in the 400 hurdles at the UCSD Triton Invitational in La Jolla to break his own school and GNAC record of 51.69, set at the same meet last year.
Woodring also ran the anchor leg in the 4x400 relay that finished in 3:10.64 for the second best mark in WWU history and third in GNAC history.
Grand Valley State, Angelo State, Colorado School of Mines, Fresno Pacific and Harding are the nation's top five men's D2 teams this week.
Northwest Nazarene is the only other GNAC school in the top 25, as they crack the national top 25 rankings for the first time since 2019.
Western Washington is also in the national top 25 this week, coming in at number 24.
Their lone national top ten mark from over the weekend came in the 4 x 400 relay, where they ran 3:42.76, also at the UCSD Triton Invitational. That time puts them fourth on the national D2 descending order list.
The Vikings are the lone GNAC school in the national top 25.
Central Washington, which was ranked number 15 last week, dropped out of the top 25, as the Wildcats are ranked 26th.
