PRO NOTES: McMahon-Staggs and Thomas find new homes with Atlanta TC Elite & HOKA NAZ Elite...

Some pro notes to pass along...

2025 University of Washington grad Ronan McMahon-Staggs (Paul Merca photo) and 2026 grad Chloe Thomas will have new homes for the 2027 season.

McMahon-Staggs, who competed this season for Italian athletic shoe company Diadora, will move across the country and join the Atlanta Track Club Elite, according to a post on the Atlanta TC Instagram page.

He becomes the fifth Washington alum to join the team.

The squad currently has on its roster Luke Houser, Aidan Ryan, Justin O'Toole, and just added Sam Ellis to its roster after his contract with On Running expired.

“To be able to work alongside a group of hardworking individuals who share similar goals is a true blessing. Joining Atlanta Track Club gives me the opportunity to continue growing as both an athlete and a person within the running community,” said McMahon-Staggs.

During his time at Washington, he was a NCAA qualifier, and was part of the quartet that set an all-conditions world best in the distance medley relay in 2025, when he, Bodi Ligons, Kyle Reinheimer, and Nathan Green teamed to run 9:14.10.

This season, he finished eighth at the Irish national championships in the 1500, and ran a season best of 3:38.57 for 1500 meters in Lignano, Italy, and a mile season best of 3:55.84 at the Mile City meet in January.

Meanwhile, Thomas (Paul Merca photo) announced on her Instagram page that she will move to Flagstaff and join the Hoka Northern Arizona Elite team.

Thomas, who only had indoor and outdoor track eligibility at Washington remaining after graduating from the University of Connecticut, was an NCAA qualifier outdoors in both the 5000 and 10000 meter races outdoors, and the 5000 indoors.

Thomas was part of the Washington squad that won the B1G Ten indoor distance medley relay title, and finished third in the 3000. Outdoors, the Canadian won the B1G Ten 10000 meter title. She also represented Canada in January at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships contested in Tallahassee, Florida.

She finished fourth in the 5000 meters at the Canadian championships in July.
