Sam Ellis to return home and join Atlanta Track Club Elite...
According to a post on the Atlanta Track Club Elite's Instagram page, Washington alum Sam Ellis (Paul Merca photo), who is a native of Decatur, Georgia, has joined the Atlanta Track Club Elite team.
Ellis, who was the 2023 Pac-12 800 meter champion at Washington, continued to train in Seattle after working on his masters degree in intercollegiate athletic leadership from the UW under Husky coach Andy Powell, as part of Powell's pro group that includes Sam Prakel, Joe Waskom, and 2026 USA indoor and outdoor champion Nathan Green.
Ellis will join an Atlanta Track Club group that has three Washington alums on its squad, including Luke Houser, Justin O'Toole, and Aidan Ryan.
"It feels amazing to be coming home," said Ellis.
"Very rarely does an athlete get to represent their hometown, much less an organization whose events and races they grew up running as a kid. The community in Atlanta is unmatched, and joining Coach (Tom) Nohilly and this team feels like the perfect fit for my next chapter."
"I can't wait to put Atlanta on my jersey and start training with this incredible group."
After graduating from the UW, Ellis has been sponsored by On Running.
The announcement from the Atlanta TC is below.
