UW alum Gianna Woodruff wins 400 hurdles at Central American and Caribbean Games...
After winning her semifinal Monday in 54.76, Woodruff, a two time world championships and Olympic finalist, cruised to victory for her native Panama, running 53.98.
Grace Claxton of Puerto Rico was second in 55.40, and Daniela Rojas of Costa Rica was third in 56.10.
Woodruff's winning mark is her second fastest this season. Her 2026 best is 53.58, set at the Wanda Diamond League Golden Gala meet in Rome on June 4th.

The World Athletics Under 20 Championships gets underway Wednesday afternoon at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon.
Of the nine athletes with Washington ties competing in the five day meet, three will hit the oval.
Washington rising sophomore Chloe Symon of Canada, her countrywoman and incoming freshman Mary MacLean, and fellow incoming freshman Saoirse Fitzgerald of Ireland all go in the first round of the women's 800, starting at 1:15 pm Pacific.
Fitzgerald goes in heat 1, while MacLean, the Canadian U20 champ runs in heat 3. Symon, the Canadian U20 record holder in the event, rounds out the trio in heat 5.
In each of the five first round heats, the top five in each heat earn a qualifying spot to the semifinals on Friday night at 6:05 pm, plus the two fastest time qualifiers.
