Sophie O'Sullivan moves to number 2 all time on Irish 800m list...
O'Sullivan, who raced on Thursday over 1500 meters in Zürich, was tucked in comfortably in about third place as the field hit the bell in approximately 58 seconds.
Unlike Thursday's race where she let the field swallow her up after the pacemaker stepped off the track, she stayed focused and kept her eyes on the leader, former Arkansas standout and Paris Olympic finalist Shafiqua Maloney.
Maloney hung on for the win in 1:58.03, with O'Sullivan second in 1:58.60.
The time was a new personal best, eclipsing her old personal best of 1:59.65 set on August 9th in Twickenham, just outside of London.
It's also the second fastest in Irish history, behind only Ciara Mageean's national record of 1:58.51.
The men's 1500 saw Gary Martin of the Brooks Beasts finish fourth.
Martin, who held the lead going into the bell, finished with a time of 3:33.29, as Wisconsin alum Adam Spencer of Australia won in 3:32.32.
It was a tough go for former Huskies Sam Tanner of New Zealand, and Woodinville native Luke Houser.
Tanner was 16th in 3:43.73, while Houser was 17th in 3:48.83.
In Bellinzona, Switzerland, Washington's Hana Moll finished third in the pole vault at the GalAthletics Meeting Sunday afternoon.
Moll's day started with a second attempt make at her opening height of 14-6 (4.42m).
After passing 15-0 (4.57m), she needed two attempts to make the next bar of 15-3.75 (4.67m).
She then missed two attempts at the eventual winning height of 15-7.75 (4.77m), then called it a day, retiring before her third scheduled attempt.
Angelica Moser of Switzerland, who battled Moll on Wednesday in Zürich, finished with the victory at 15-7.75 (4.77m), with American Sandi Morris, who also competed in Zürich, second at 15-3.75 (4.67m) over Moll, thanks to a first attempt make at that height.
Moll, Morris and Moser will renew acquaintances later this week at the Wanda Diamond League finals at the Van Damme Meeting in Brussels Friday and Saturday.
In Berlin, Seattle resident Sam Prakel finished eighth in the men's 1500 at the ISTAF Berlin meet at the Olympiastadion.
Prakel finished in a time of 3:34.69, as Australia's Cam Myers won in 3:30.96.
Prakel was the only athlete with Washington ties competing in Berlin.
