Husky women score highest team finish in school history at Pac-12s...

WALNUT, California--
While the Washington men basked in the glory of winning the school's first conference championship since the formation of the AAWU/Pac-8/10/12 in 1960, the Husky women had its highest team finish at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships, taking third at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mt. San Antonio College with 85.5 points behind Oregon's 158.5 and USC's 127.

The outright third place finish betters the tie for third in the 2019 meet in Tucson.

Washington State finished twelfth with a final team score of 15.5 points.

Sophie O'Sullivan (Paul Merca photo) and Anna Gibson got the afternoon started with a fourth and fifth place finish, with O'Sullivan scoring a big PR, running 4:12.19, and Gibson right behind in 4:12.65.

Carley Thomas once again broke her own UW school record in the 800-meters, giving a massive effort to try and defend her conference title, but Stanford's Juliette Whittaker ran the No. 5 time in the NCAA this year to win in 2:01.19, while Thomas leaned across the line in 2:02.40 for second-place, more than three seconds ahead of third.

Beatrice Asomaning scored in her second event of the weekend in the women's discus, grabbing the eighth spot today with a best of 173-2 (52.79m) for one point.

In the 5000, Kayley DeLay, third in the steeplechase Saturday, finished fifth in 16:24.63, and Sophie O'Sullivan was sixth in 16:31.37, posting a final seven points for the team.

For Washington State, Mackenzie Fletcher set a personal best in the 400m hurdles, clocking 59.34 and Micaela De Mello (100m hurdles, 13.38) each grabbed fifth-place finishes in Sunday's finals.

The Cougar 4 x 100 meter relay finished second in their heat and fifth overall in the two-section final, running 44.72.

University Place native Lexi Ellis of Oregon won the triple jump with a best of 44-10.75 (13.68m) to contribute ten big points for the Ducks
